And here
You saw a shirt for $97. You didn’t have the cash, so you borrowed $50 from your mum and $50 from your dad = $100. You bought the shirt, and had $3 change. You gave your dad $1 and your mum $1 and kept the other $1 for yourself. Now you owe your mum $49 and your dad $49. 49+49 = 98 + your $1 = 99. Where is the missing $1?
People are so dumb… You don’t add the $1 you have to the $98 total… You’re supposed to subtract the $1 you have from $98; and that will give you the total amount you owe them back, which would be $97.
An easier way to explain would be to simplify it.
4+4=8
You buy the Shirt for $5.
8-5=3
You have $3 left in change, so you give $1 to each parent. The total you owe your Dad is $3, and the total you owe your Mom is $3; and you keep $1. You still owe $6 total.
If you followed the idiotic equation above, you’d be adding the $1 you kept to the amount you owe; which is saying you give $1 to one of the parents, and the amount you still owe to them rises to $7 when you should be SUBTRACTING it from the total.
Do you people see your mistake?! Sheesh, you should all take a math course again
